Shift your whole day in five seconds with this “reset button.”
Can you give me five seconds out of your busy day today?
Think this through carefully, because it will take the whole five seconds. Can you really afford that? With all the important life and death decisions you make all day, all the important life and death projects you are working on, all the life and death deadlines you are trying to meet, and all the people who are depending on you in a life and death way?
Okay, you get the idea. Perhaps I am mocking the fact that we all take our lives a bit too seriously. So let’s take the five seconds right now and see if this works to reset our mood, our emotions, and our spirit.
Close your eyes and take one deep breath. Now let it out slowly.
That’s it. Can you feel it? Perhaps you need a double dose today… do it a second time. Now can you feel it? Do you need intensive care? Do it a third time.
Ahhhhh, there it is! Feels amazing, doesn’t it? Do you realize that none of this physical stuff, none of the deadlines or work or decisions and all, none of them really matter that much. What does matter is that you breathe. Breathe in the air. Breathe in the life-giving oxygen that is so perfectly provided to you by this perfect planet. Mmmmm, savor it. Feel the rush of simply being alive!
This is the ideal remedy for whatever ails you, and whatever stresses you. It is a way to remember that you live from the inside out and not the outside in. It is a way to remember that you are a creator and not a conformer, a dreamer and not a reactor. It is a way to remember that you are a visionary and not just an observer.
It is a way to remember not to take any of this too seriously!
The five-second “reset button!” You have my permission to use it as often as you like.
